Productivity Tools

These are some of the tools that I use and have found indispensable in my personal productivity.

Todoist

For a TODO list, I use Todoist. I like this app because it is so easy to add recurring tasks. You can use plain English to schedule your tasks, for example “Take out the trash everyday”. It also intuitively adds new tasks to your “Inbox”, allowing you to go in and categorize them later. Todoist also integrates with IFTTT, so you can add tasks to Todoist based on a weather forecast or something.

Google Keep

I use Google Keep as a general quick note app. Any time I just need to quickly jot down something to remember this is where it goes. It also stores some of my reference materials, models of tools, vehicle maintenance records, and other things like that.

OneNote

For more intensive note-taking and reference materials I use OneNote. I have found it to be as close to a blank piece of paper as you can currently get in the digital world. The creativity that allows is fantastic. You can write and draw, type, add images and attachments. You can move those things around and rearrange them with ease.

Trello

For large projects that I am working on I will tend to put something in Trello. For example, this is where quick notes for blog posts I want to write go. It is flexible enough to allow a good amount of creativity, but still structured enough to have an extremely low learning curve.

Everbook

Of course the Everbook has to find a place here too. This catches everything that doesn’t go into the digital tools. I still keep something in my Everbook for nearly all of my projects. In many ways the physical paper and documents are better than their digital counterparts.
