About Me

Howdy, I’m Jared, the Wasteland Coder.

I’ve been working with computers and with code for much of my life. It started out as a hobby; something my dad had done, so I began to get into it. In high school I spent a lot of time coding up silly little games to pass the time in my tech classes.

Jumping ahead to today, and I’m now a Staff Software Engineer for a healthcare company. I am on a team that came into the company through a number of acquisitions. That is coupled together with a lot of bureaucracy from the larger company as a whole.

More Personal

I enjoy tinkering with electronics, woodworking, rock climbing (okay, really indoor bouldering; too expensive to really get into that hobby), flying (private pilot – talk about expensive hobbies…), reading, writing, all that good stuff. My beautiful wife and I have 7 children. We live on about 12 acres and have a bit of a small ranch going with all the animals; chickens, geese, turkeys, goats, cows, horses. We also have cats, dogs, guinea pigs and a rabbit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wow, 7 kids…

You know how that happens, right?

Of course, why do you think I have 6 kids?

You must have your hands full!

This isn’t really a question, but I rarely carry all my kids at once, although I probably still could if the need were to arise.
